Battery Energy Storage Across Yorkshire

Can you tell us about the origins of your company and the key services you offer? How did you venture into the field of renewable energy, specifically battery energy storage systems?

Originally set up as an electrical contracting company specialising in swimming pool plant rooms. Jimmy set the company up solely, and in 2021, Jamie Pretty came on board as a director. I completed all solar qualifications in early 2021 & as a company, we completed our 1st installation soon after that. The 1st ever battery installed was an alphaESS b3 2.9kw. Since then, we have installed AlphaESS batteries for B3+, Smile G3, B5, and  T10. Currently installed 83 main units with a total of 659kWh capacity.

Please provide some information around the size
of company and your team?

The company currently has two employees, Jimmy and Jamie. We are very busy and feel we can provide the right customer service at our current level.

In which geographical areas do you primarily operate, and what would you say are people’s attitudes, both home and commercial, to renewable energy?

We mainly install in Yorkshire, which certainly covers a large enough area for us at the moment. Our customers love the systems we install-the feedback has been great, and most are very keen on the mobile app control, which makes the whole system easy to manage.

Could you describe your typical customer? How do you tailor your services to meet the diverse needs of residential, commercial, and industrial clients?

Most of our domestic enquiries come from homeowners without great knowledge of renewable energy. We conduct a site survey, examine an energy bill, and ask customers what they want to achieve with a renewable energy system. We examine an energy bill on commercial and industrial sites; more often than not, we monitor the electrical usage over two weeks and then design a system based on our information.

What motivated your decision to partner with AlphaESS UK for battery energy storage solutions? How has this partnership enhanced the value you provide to your customers?

We first installed the AlphaESS Smile B3 and thought the product was excellent. From the selection of AlphaESS products, we can design AC-coupled systems, hybrids, and DC across the range and fit into customers' budgets.

From your experience, what sets AlphaESS products apart from other energy storage solutions in the market? Can you share a particularly interesting and successful installation story involving an AlphaESS system?

The technical support is really good, as well as the aesthetics of the equipment. We were once shouted at by a tradesman on the motorway saying, 'Your the Alpha Guys'. This demonstrates the number of AlphaESS units we fit.

How do you stay informed about the latest developments in the energy sector, and how do these trends impact your business strategies and the solutions you offer?

We visit tradeshows throughout the year and ensure we receive new tech info via email. The tradeshows are great for catching up with the industry and learning about new products.

What advice would you give to someone considering integrating battery energy storage into their home or business? How does AlphaESS facilitate this transition?

If you plan on staying in the property for over five years, it's a no-brainer; go for it. Due to rising power costs, you will see a return on investment much sooner than before.

Can the UK hit its Net Zero targets? If you were energy minister for the UK, what would you be doing?

I would make it mandatory to install a home battery storage system on all newly built properties and all council buildings. This would help the UK reach its net zero target. It would make energy cost-savings for homeowners a reality.

Looking ahead, how do you see renewable energy and battery energy storage evolving in the UK’s energy landscape? What are your company’s plans for growth and adaptation in this changing environment?

It is definitely growing; we are busier than ever. I personally think the big energy companies will come in and mass-install across the nation with cheap products. We are going to carry on as we have done for the last three years: install quality equipment and drive customer service.

What message would you like to give to other installers or companies considering a partnership with AlphaESS UK?

AlphaESS UK offers excellent products and outstanding technical support and is on budget.
