02. Exploring the
AlphaESS UK Installer Hub.

In conversation with Andrew Bailey, Technical Engineering & Support Manager for AlphaESS UK

At AlphaESS UK, we continue to innovate in the energy storage sector, delivering technology, systems and guidance to drive energy independence across commercial, industrial and residential sectors. One area we are recognised and excel within, is creating effective relationships and supporting the UK’s energy storage installers.

In 2024, we launched our AlphaESS UK Installer Hub, a standout initiative, a centralised platform simplifying how we share our knowledge with our extensive network of UK battery energy storage installers.

The Installer Hub platform provides essential information in one place. From troubleshooting guides and system manuals to instructional videos and updates on best practices, empowering installers to work effectively, solve problems independently, but all backed with the AlphaESS UK Technical Team’s knowledge.

We spoke with Andrew Bailey, AlphaESS UK’s Technical Engineering & Support Manager, to learn more about the Hub, its role in simplifying processes, and how the company continues supporting its installer network.

Hi Andrew. Can you explain your role at AlphaESS UK?

Of course, my role within AlphaESS UK focuses on supporting the UK market, specifically our distributor partners and authorised installer network. Part of my role now includes managing the Installer Hub, ensuring our systems and services meet the specific needs of UK installers, and providing ongoing support for their projects. Everything from product specification, installation guidance, health and safety and compliance are readily available online.

It sounds like the Installer Hub delivers a more connected relationship between AlphaESS UK and the Installers.

Exactly that, and this was a pivotal reason for us developing the platform, a more connected relationship. The Installer Hub is a centralised knowledge base with information specific to UK installers. Previously, information was spread across various platforms, making it harder to access and often difficult for us to control versions of information. The Hub brings everything together—manuals, troubleshooting guides, and videos—into one easy-to-navigate location. It ensures installers have quick access to the most relevant, up-to-date information they need to get the job done.

How does AlphaESS UK differentiate itself in terms of service?

Service support is a key focus for the business and my team in particular. We’ve built a scalable support system where over 80% of issues are resolved by our Support Desk based in Leeds. For more complex problems, we also have a dedicated second-line team based in the UK, ensuring our UK team provides the support installers need. We can also utilise the skills and support in Europe or China if required. Our service model and approach allow us to respond quickly and effectively, which is a significant point of difference in our industry.

What would you say are the most common challenges installers face, Andrew, and how does the Installer Hub help mitigate issues?

One of the main challenges is meter connectivity. We’ve created detailed guides to help installers troubleshoot issues themselves. Experienced installers usually know what to look for, but everyone, especially some installers new to the industry or systems, can sometimes miss critical steps. Having the Installer Hub available online provides step-by-step resources to guide them through the process, reducing their reliance on the help desk. However, we are always on hand to provide additional technical support wherever it’s required.

Are there any plans to expand the resources available to installers?

Collectively and globally with AlphaESS, we are continually exploring and developing ways and resources to support installers. There’s a YouTube channel with a wide range of videos on installations, commissioning processes, and app overviews, and working closely with the UK Installer Network, we’re regularly updating UK-specific content.

What role does the Installer Hub play in AlphaESS UK’s wider goals?

The Installer Hub is a foundation for supporting our installer network. It provides a reliable source of information and allows us to share updates, notifications, and insights to keep installers up-to-date with system changes, new products, best practices and health and safety. It’s all part of our commitment to delivering an excellent service relationship with installers and making things as easy as possible for our partners.
